I paint with oil – sometimes acrylic, ink and graphic powder. Nature and the human being are my favorite subjects. Everyone is a unique person. If I can capture the soul of a human being in a portrait and make the viewer interested in that person I have succeded.
Capturing the soul of nature is likewise a big joy. Mother Nature is outstanding as well as human beings. Both are connected which we seem to forget today in the way we act and treat our world.
Photography has had my interest since I was in my late teens. In 1995 I was studying photography at Vrå Højskole for 4 months and afterward I attended a photo course at Teknisk Skole in Copenhagen. I used to spend hours after hours in a dark room and became quite capable of determining exactly how many sec. a film and a picture needed to have the exact right exposure. It was so exciting to have the picture slowly appear.
Today the digital camera has offered new possibilities. I make few photographs that are manipulated. However, I love making double exposed photos . The digital camera definitely offers new possibilities.
Back then I was very captured by the human body as well as portraits. Today I´m drawn by taking pictures of landscapes. We are connected with it and it is conected to us.
I graduated from The School of Architecture in 2005 and worked in different architect offices. Today I´m on my own being involved in a variety of different projects.
You can have a big influence on how people act, feel and move which makes the job as an architect interesting. Architecture should be felt good, give you a nice experience, maybe surprise one or adapt well in the surroundings. Architecture should speak to the human scale which often is not the case today, unfortunately. More texture, details and a little less fear of colors would definitely add to the architecture of today if you ask me.
A Little bit more about my artistic background…
Art has played a big part in my upbringing having more family members who were painting. I started myself with acrylic abstract painting on canvas when I was in my early twenties. In 2009 after a trip to Mexico I decided to start with oil painting and it has been my favorite media since. I´m all the time trying to improve my technical skills on canvas shifting between abstract and figurative. I like the impulsive strokes in an abstract painting and the technical skill that a portrait demands in order to capture a soul, the landscape of a face or a certain atmosphere.
